Harmonics currents are caused by equipment with non-linear characteristics, such as transformers operated in saturation, energy-saving lamps, frequency converters, and power electronics. They load the grid with additional currents and can affect or even destroy equipment. These grid distortions can be detected and documented using power quality analyzers.
The GridVis® alarm management system monitors all measurement parameters obtained by the UMG measurement devices. It includes escalation management, logbook function and user management for individual notifications by e-mail, pop-up window on the monitor, etc.
In addition to monitoring RMS values, short-term interruptions and transients as well as communication with the measurement devices can also be monitored.
An important part of grid analysis is GridVis® report generation. It provides a quick and clear representation of the power quality in defined periods of time. The power quality reports are based on international standards (EN 50160, EN 61000-2-4, IEEE 519, etc.). In addition to the PQ reports, energy consumption reports are of great benefit to the user. Generation and dispatch can take place automatically based on freely definable schedules.
Flicker is the subjective impression of visually perceptible fluctuations in brightness caused by temporal changes in luminance or spectral distribution. This is caused by voltage variations. Above a certain threshold, flicker phenomena are disturbing and may be harmful to health. Further details are regulated in standard DIN EN 61000-4-15.
Many UMG measurement devices have their own memory with typical record ranges of up to 2 years. Recording is freely configurable. A 128 MByte memory can store around 5,000,000 memory values, a 256 MByte memory can store around 10,000,000 memory values.
Notification by e-mail is an ideal tool for alarm and escalation management of the UMG measurement devices and the GridVis® software. This allows recipients to be informed in detail about an event straight away.
Graphically prepared displays on the device's own homepage with no additional software installation.
Continuous monitoring of power quality according to EN 50160 in energy supply networks.
Continuous monitoring of the power quality according to IEC 61000-2-4 in customer-side power grids.
The power quality analyzer, in accordance with EN 50160, is particularly suitable for DIN rail mounting. It is used to monitor the power quality in accordance with common standards, e.g. EN 6100024. The UMG 605-PRO is suitable for recording short and long-term flicker as well as for Profibus DP and Profibus DP V0. The UMG has two digital inputs and outputs and an additional temperature measurement input.
